Pine Knob Ski Resort Establishes Gift Card Program through Standard Payments

Detroit, MI – September 27, 2004 - Standard Payments, LLC, the majority-owned merchant services subsidiary of Dallas-based payments services company Transactional Technologies, LLC, has added gift cards to the suite of payments acceptance products it provides to Pine Knob Ski Resort. Standard Payments currently provides Pine Knob with credit card, debit card, and check guarantee processing services; all gift card transactions will be processed through existing point-of-sale equipment.
“We’re excited to be introducing gift cards prior to the start of the coming ski season,” said Rob Shick, General Manager of Pine Knob Ski Resort. “We anticipate strong customer demand. Our new electronic gift card product is more convenient than paper gift certificates, and we expect this to drive additional sales.”
Pine Knob Ski Resort opted in favor of electronic gift cards because paper certificates are difficult to track over long periods of time, are commonly fraudulently duplicated, and lack the marketing benefits of plastic gift cards. Standard Payments’ gift card program includes an online reporting system that tracks the number of gift cards in circulation, each card’s total value, and its purchase location.
